The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus opened for the first 500 students in September 2022, and is now looking for competent, experienced and, above all, passionate Co Teacher, Pre - Primary Years Programm for immediate employment.

We are also in the process of planning our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site to be completed approximately by end of 2025, that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major turning point.

Note: Cyprus regulations require applicants to have a university degree in Education Pedagogic recognised by KY.S.A.T.S. (The Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications) and the ability to pass a background check.

The Position:

General responsibilities:

  • Support and encourage children to achieve confidence and competence in inquiry-based learning under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Contribute to the assessment of children’ attainment and progress, keeping observation records.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to individual student needs.
  • Lead learning activities, based on best practice PYP learning both individually and in groups as agreed with the class teacher.
  • Present learning tasks and curriculum content in a clear and stimulating manner.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with children; foster and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with children, teachers and parents
  • Manage their own and children’s time effectively.
  • Prepare, use and maintain classroom resources to ensure that they are in good working order and sufficient, to assist learning tasks as requested by the class teacher.
  • Provide support and guidance for children to interpret activities and other resources and to set out their work appropriately.
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.
  • Set and maintain clear expectations of children’s behavior and assist in securing appropriate standards of discipline.
  • Learn and develop PYP childhood learning and teaching strategies and approaches.
  • Participate in collaborative planning and add to PYP planners.
  • Develop secure and understanding of how young children learn and develop, by observation of and with guidance from the teacher and other staff members.
  • Support children in personal hygiene and wellbeing routines.
  • Maintain confidentiality about children’s learning, development and care at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Pedagogical is a must. Additional degrees would be considered an advantage.
  • Professional Educator Diploma or other teacher qualification if available (e.g. QTS, PGCE).
  • Fluent English and international mindedness.
  • Familiar with technology use in teaching and learning.
  • Is compassionate and attentive to students; knows how children learn and can support their learning.
  • Remember how to be curious and awed by the world around.
  • Can create and improvise and has a desire to co-create a child-centred curriculum and bring it to life.
  • Has a mild allergy to sitting at the desk and strictly following the prescribed curriculum.

Position Working Days/hours:

Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00
