The team

The successful candidate will be joining PwC Investment Services (Cyprus) Limited, which is a Cyprus Investment Firm, regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

Joining our team will provide you with the opportunity to be part of a high calibre and dynamic team of professionals excelling in the provision of risk management services to regulated funds and fund management companies. The successful candidate will be servicing a diversified portfolio of funds investing in major asset classes and sectors of the economy, including listed equity, fixed income, real estate, private equity, shipping, energy and others.

Main responsibilities

• Review and amend risk management policies and procedures based on individual investment activities and strategy
• Prepare risk assessment reports for acquisitions and other transactions recommended by the portfolio managers and analyse relevant risks, risk profiles and possible conflicts of interest
• Assist fund managers to setup risk limits and diversification rules, based on the risk profile of their portfolio and monitor possible breach of such limits at frequent intervals
• Review the documents received from the fund managers, such as fund prospectuses, financial statements, valuation and due diligence reports as well as investment proposals
• Review market conditions and valuation standards to assess the degree of suitability of the valuation framework standards to the investment strategy
• Update the risk registry with identified risks, analyse mitigating actions and exercise judgement on assigning risk ratings
• Measure risks with the use of risk metrics tools, such as VaR, backtesting, stress-testing etc.
• Prepare risk management reports and present them to the fund manager’s board of directors or investment committees
• Attend discussions and meetings on risk management matters at regular intervals and document views and next actions
• Monitor global markets on an ongoing basis to stay up to date with macro / geopolitical / sectoral developments that may generate or increase risks of the portfolios
• Maintain responsibility and accountability for the quality and timeliness of deliverables
• Promote and represent PwC and the Risk Management department both internally and externally and raise awareness of our risk management services

What we are looking for

• University degree in Finance, Risk Management, Mathematics or in other related field
• Prior experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
• Holder of the CySEC advanced certificate or willingness to undertake the exam
• Studying towards the CFA or FRM professional qualifications will be considered an advantage
• Knowledge of Bloomberg Terminal and/or Refinitiv’s EIKON will be considered an advantage
• Report drafting and analytical skills
• Attention to detail, accuracy and proofreading skills
• Highly motivated individual who can work in a fast paced dynamic environment, with an ability to take initiative, solve problems and deliver results
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Confident, articulate and able to communicate in a clear and effective manner
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google+ tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek
